Usage

/ringo-quiz [easy|normal|hard]

•difficulty: (optional) easy / normal / hard (default: normal)

Difficulty Levels

Level	Sentence Length	Grammar Complexity
easy	5 words or less	Basic patterns (SVO, SVC, There is/are)
normal	6-10 words	Compound sentences, conjunctions, relative clauses
hard	11+ words	Subjunctive, participle constructions, complex relative clauses

•Randomly choose direction: JP→EN or EN→JP
•Generate a sentence matching the difficulty level
•Topics: Daily life, work, travel, technology (varied)

Example Sentences by Difficulty

Easy (5 words or less)

•JP→EN: 「今日は暑いです」→ "It's hot today."
•EN→JP: "I like coffee." → 「私はコーヒーが好きです」

Normal (6-10 words)

•JP→EN: 「彼女は毎朝6時に起きます」→ "She gets up at 6 every morning."
•EN→JP: "I've been waiting for an hour." → 「私は1時間待っています」

Hard (11+ words)

•JP→EN: 「もし昨日雨が降っていなかったら、ピクニックに行けたのに」 → "If it hadn't rained yesterday, we could have gone on a picnic."

SRS Auto-Addition

Use the ringo-srs CLI for all SRS operations. Do NOT read or write data/learning-items.json directly.

When to Add

•Incorrect (✗): Always add the key expression/grammar that was missed
•Needs Improvement (△): Add the specific expression that caused the error

Adding Items via CLI

For each item to add, run:

./bin/ringo-srs add --front "<english expression>" --back "<japanese meaning>" --type "<type>" --context "<model answer sentence>" --context-ja "<japanese translation>" --source "ringo-quiz"

•Duplicate detection is handled by the CLI (case-insensitive on --front)
•If duplicate, CLI returns error code duplicate — skip silently

Notes

•Be encouraging regardless of result
•Focus on one or two key learning points per quiz
•Auto-add incorrect items to SRS (no confirmation needed)
